What is Individual Psychological Assessment?
Individual psychological assessment uses a combination of evidence-based psychological evaluation methods to answer clinical referral questions. Individual psychological assessments are used to make accurate psychological diagnoses, evaluate whether difficulty/dysfunction/disability is due to psychological factors, and/or provide clinical empirical support for applications for special accommodations or disability due to psychological factors. Providers at PsychForward CBT are skilled in providing the following types of individual assessments: personality assessments, vocational assessments, and psychoeducational assessments.
What is a personality assessment?
Personality assessments are used to make accurate psychological diagnoses and/or evaluate non-clinical personality traits and strengths. If you are interested in a personality assessment, please contact us.
What is a vocational assessment?
Vocational assessments are used to evaluate the fit between your personality/interests and a potential job or career. Vocational assessments are sometime referred to as career assessments. If you are interested in a vocational assessment, please contact us.
What is a psychoeducational assessment?
Psychoeducational assessments are a type of individual psychological assessment that is used specifically for evaluating psychological and cognitive factors/conditions that can adversely impact performance at school or work. Please read below for additional information about psychoeducational assessments.
What specific conditions can psychoeducational assessments evaluate?
Psychoeducational assessments can be used to evaluate the presence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), specific learning disorders (e.g., reading learning disorder/dyslexia, math learning disorder/dyscalculia), as well as psychological/emotional disorders that could impact learning and attention (e.g., anxiety disorders, trauma disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders). Psychoeducational assessments can also be used to screen for neuropsychological impairment due to dementia, traumatic brain injury, or other medical conditions; however, we cannot diagnose these conditions and will offer referrals to a neuropsychologist, neurologist, and/or psychiatrist if we suspect that one of these conditions are present.
What can I expect from my psychoeducational assessment?
Psychological assessments vary quite a bit depending on the referral questions, but all psychoeducational assessments will involve the following: a clinical interview, review of relevant documents, evaluation using psychometric instruments, a written report, and feedback on the results of the evaluation. The first session will consist of the clinical interview. The clinical interview gives us an opportunity to learn more about your relevant psychoeducational background, psychoeducational difficulties, and your assessment needs. After the clinical interview, we will design your psychological testing battery. The testing battery will provide quantitative data to help answer your referral questions. Given that testing can sometimes last as much as 6 hours, we may schedule your testing across 2 or 3 different sessions. After your testing is complete and your report is written, we offer a feedback session. In the feedback session, we will go over your assessment results and give you an opportunity to ask questions. We will also give you a copy of your written assessment report. The report will include any diagnoses that were made as well as any relevant treatment and educational recommendations. The total amount of time that your provider may spend to complete your assessment can last from 3.5 - 18.5 hours. PsychForward CBT offers 2 tiers of psychoeducational assessments depending upon your needs and the referral questions:

Tier 2: Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation
